A Teacher (and a Gentleman)

Well, first of all I beg your pardon for the pun on the title but this post is dedicated to me ;)

What an amazing input I had yesterday attending the World Business Forum of Milan. Marcus Buckingham, particularly, was one of the most celebrated speakers and his performance was really convincing. Among the ideas he showed up, I would like to point out to "go put your strengths to work". It is about find out what are you good at, and make them becoming your strengths, your best skills to (that's the point)  achieve living from it. Clearly, it doesn't mean you shouldn't pay attention to your weakness, but just putting stress on what makes you unique, great, special... or maybe should be told: what makes you happy!

Anyway, the reason why I'm talking about it, is that Backingham is the promoter of a funny test in which comes out your strengths. It is called "StandOut" and you can check in yours best abilities or even any hidden talent related to your workplace.

Well, I did it. The outcome I got was wonderful. I'm a teacher! It really gave peace to my heart and brought calm to my brain because it confirms what I'm living for. What I feel, the way I do anything, the approach I essay with people, my profession, now all is getting back with sense. I'd like to share the text I got as a result, here it is:

"You have an encyclopedic knowledge of what we need in our work. You are an instinctive gatherer of information, a collector of interesting factoids, articles, and insights. You do this not necessarily for your own benefit, but rather so you can package them up and parcel them back out to people who might need them, or find them useful. Over your career you will come to be known for this -- whenever we are at a loss, we will turn to you, sure that you will have something valuable to share with us. You make a wonderful boss and mentor, because you not only teach us the basics of the job but also encourage us to take the next step -- and reach out to those who can help us do it. Always generous with your knowledge, you are the quintessential career coach".

Isn't it a pleasure? And you, do you know what are you good at? If so, what are you doing to make capital out of your strengths?
